This is our antagonist who ironically is a Union soldier. He was formerly a murderer and a drunk.
Our protagonist is torn with sense of duty and his responsibility to protect his friends.
In writing this forgotten part of history, Peter Bean needed to do a large amount of research. It has taken him nearly 7 years to perfect this story which stays true to what happened to those brave volunteers.
